Sally’s Beauty Supply: Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadow Pots

 Hello friends!

I'm so excited to bring you this review tonight because I have always loved playing with different eyeshadow and eyeliner looks so when I find a real gem of an eyeshadow I can hardly contain myself!
I was browsing through Sally’s Beauty Supply one day and saw a display that had a plethora of eyeshadows on it! It had individual eyeshadows of every color, finish and varying degrees of pigmentation.

This trio looks great together and compliment each other very well!

I was astonished at the price ringing up at a whopping grand total of…$1.06 including tax!! And at this price I really couldn’t resist snatching up a few of each. Let’s be real though, paying a dollar for eyeshadow I really wasn’t expecting a makeup miracle nor was I expecting these little fellers to withstand all the makeup hazards the day has to offer us ladies. You can imagine my surprise when I used them and not only were they extremely pigmented but the Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadows remained intact for the duration of the day!

Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadow
True to color when used wet

I do have a few tips on how I prefer to use the Baked Eyeshadows to ensure you are really getting the most out of this product as absolutely possible. I played around with them for a bit when I first brought them home and found that if you do not dampen your brush and use them wet you really don’t get much pigmentation. When used “properly” the effect that you get is dramatic, precise and has a slight reflective sheen.

I am in love with this blue! It's great as a liner as well!

I am really impressed with these baked eyeshadows for multiple reasons. The first reason and the most obvious reason is, of course, the price. Introducing you to amazing beauty products at an affordable price is what inspired me to start this blog in the first place. I mean, come on, $1.06 for a great baked eyeshadow? SCORE! At that price you can afford to buy every color imaginable! Another reason to run out and get your hands on these beauties is their pigmentation and gorgeous color!

Swatch of color number 388123

I was really impressed with the assortment of colors. They have a great selection of bold colors and also a great selection of neutral colors as well. I promise you that you will not be disappointed with these. Sally’s Beauty Supply’s Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadows are not only a great price but a great product as well.

Mascara Review: No Falsies Needed

Hello friends!
I hope everyone is having a beautiful end to their week! Last week my husband took me shopping and I purchased some amazing and not so amazing products to review and compare for you. The most requested product review was for mascara. Shopping for mascara is not the simplest of tasks. There are so many different choices for mascara to choose from. You can get mascara that makes your lashes longer. You can get mascara that makes your lashes thicker. There is blue mascara, black and brown mascara. There's mascara with glitter and mascara with fibers, you could never try them all yourself. Lucky for you, I've had an obsession with mascara since I started wearing makeup many many moons ago ;)

The mascara that I am so confident in recommending to you is They're Real! from Benefit Cosmetics. I first tried this mascara when I was given a duo sample pack from benefit as a birthday gift from Sephora.

According to the package, They're Real! claims to lengthen, curl, volumize, lift and separate your lashes. It says that they're jet black, long wearing formula will not wear off. I was amazed because for the first time in I think, um, EVER, the product does EXACTLY what it claims to do. I, apparently, am not the only one that thinks this because the package also says that 94% of users saw dramatic length and volume, 90% saw base to tip curl, 94% saw visible lift and a whopping 100% of users saw long-wearing results!

After using the travel size that I received for my birthday I purchased the full size tube from Sephora for $23. I know a lot of you are used to paying between 6 and 10 dollars for mascara and are having a hard time justifying dishing out 23 big ones, but trust me, it is more than worth it! You can't bat your beautiful lashes at a young stud if they're stuck together and less than stellar.

Think about how much money you've wasted trying to find that perfect mascara... and now your search is over! You never have to waste endless dollars ever again and can instead invest in a knock out product that will cause any guy to look twice and have every woman wondering if they're real...don't worry, we're still talking about eyelashes!

Benefit Cosmetics has a lot of amazing products but their beyond mascara, They're Real!, is definitely my favorite! Like I mentioned earlier, I've tried a lot of mascaras but after finding this gem I will never have to go on the hunt again!
If you've tried this mascara, please, let me know what you think in the comments below.

L'oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Eye Treatment Review

Hello friends!
I absolutely love trying out all of the latest and even some of the not so greatest products for you all, my friends, to keep you looking fresh and fabulous without leaving you broke and homeless! Is there a product you've been dying to try but are afraid that you may just be wasting your money? Are there two products you're trying to choose between but aren't sure what to expect? Well I have great news for you, if you leave the name of the product(s) in the comments section on ANY post I'll make sure to provide you with the most detailed and informative review that I am capable of. These products can be anything pertaining to beauty, fashion or lifestyle so knock on your noggin and tell me what you want reviewed and/or compared.

Today I am reviewing a product that so many people have been asking me about lately which is the L'OREAL Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Eye Smoother Eye Treatment. This is a new product from L'OREAL that claims to erase the look of crow's feet, fatigue and signs of puffiness with opti-blur technology which is supposed to diffuse light in millions of directions, instantly smoothing fine lines, wrinkles and the appearance of pores. This eye cream claims to INSTANTLY reduce the signs of aging and fatigue around the eye area to create a younger, more radiant appearance. This product also contains pro-retinol A, vitamin C and what L'OREAL says is a specially-designed peptide for the eye area to reduce the appearance of aging over time.

Now that I've informed you of what the L'OREAL Revitalift Miracle Blur Eye Treatment says it's going to do I'll tell you what it actually does.

I bought this product from the local supermarket 4 days ago for $24.99. I could not wait to get home and try it because I have seen numerous commercials and have had multiple women inquire about it with high hopes. The packaging is nothing extravagant but that's not something that I care about as a consumer.

When I put a dab on my finger just to get a feel of the consistency and texture I was very impressed. The cream has a nice silky smooth texture without being greasy which, in my opinion, is a major bonus! I washed my face and did my usual bedtime routine for my face and put the eye cream on last, as instructed per packaging. I noticed the fine lines under my eyes were not as pronounced as they were prior to using the eye cream. The next day when I was getting ready I applied the eye cream before applying any of my eye makeup and was really surprised at the results!

I noticed that the fine lines and crow's feet around my eyes were dramatically reduced and the dark circles around my eyes diminished as well. The cream isn't greasy so your makeup doesn't smear, it stays in place. I noticed my eyes looked brighter and not so tired. Makeup settling in the fine lines under my eyes is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to makeup so having a product that reduces the appearance of said lines is definitely worth the $25 and change it costs to purchase it. I'm not sure I would label this a miracle but it definitely works!

Have you tried the L'OREAL Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Eye Smoother Eye Treatment? If so, please leave a comment below and tell us what you think of it!

Tip of the Week #3

Hello friends!
I want to start by apologizing for not getting my tip of the week out earlier but my husband and I were in Orlando celebrating our first wedding anniversary. Holla! We're back now and I have so many reviews to post, some are good and some are not so good. I despise having to give a not so pleasant review but my job is to give you all, my friends, a little insight in to the products that you are considering spending your hard earned dollars on.

Now, let's get on to the tip of the week!
This week, my tip is one that can be used in so many ways! So, what is it?
Invest in a white eye pencil.
I prefer a jumbo eye pencil just because they tend to go on smoother and are creamier. My favorite jumbo eye pencil is by NYX and the color is Milk (#604). If you have darker skin, I would recommend using a champagne color.

White eyeliner is great because it brightens your eyes and gives you a refreshed, well rested appearance. The eyes aren't the only thing that the white pencil enhances, making it one of my beauty regime staples.

The most obvious use, of course, is using the eye pencil as an eye pencil (I know, I'm a genius). For a clean, modern look try using the white eye pencil by itself creating a winged edge. This is a really cute look if you're going for minimal makeup and using the white liner for a nice clean, crisp pop of white. If you are doing the white on it's own just be sure not to draw the line too close to your upper lash line. Doing so will give you more of a clown effect instead of a chic modern look and the last time I checked, Bozo wasn't in style. If you are willing to be a little more daring you can add a bright colored liner right below the white line on your upper lash line. I love playing around with different colors in the summer. If you rock this look make sure the rest of your makeup is neutral so you don't look overdone. These are both great looks for summer because they look so clean, fresh and fun!

Another look I love with the white eye pencil is very similar to the one mentioned above except instead of a bright colored pencil along the lash line you use a brown or black liner to give your eyes a very dramatic, intense look. You begin with the white pencil drawing a white line double the thickness that you normally would and finish with brown or black along the lash line. You can add a winged edge for a more dramatic effect.

To create the appearance of larger, brighter eyes apply the white eye pencil to your lower water line. When you first apply it it will look stark and harsh but after you blink a few times it will naturally soften and blend to an amazing, bright eyed gaze.

Do you get aggravated by eye shadows whose color doesn't pop? Ever feel like you put your eyeshadow on only to find a few short hours later that your color looks dull and faded? Just another reason to add the jumbo white eye pencil to your plethora of pencils in your makeup collection. Use the jumbo eye pencil as a base/primer for your eyeshadow by covering your lid with the white pencil and adding your eyeshadow color of choice on top. Keep in mind when choosing your eyeshadow color that the white will lighten the pigment, so, choose a darker color than the final result you are trying to achieve. Not only will your shadow stay exactly where you put it but it will really stand out and pop!

One of my all time favorite uses for the white eye pencil is also one that I think makes the most dramatic difference.
Line the inner corners of your eye by tracing the natural V  shape in the inner corners and then blending. By doing this, you will make your eyes appear larger and really give them an awake, refreshed look. On the contrary, if you have wide set eyes you will want to avoid this tip and instead, line the OUTER corners and it will make your eyes appear closer together.

You can also use the white eye pencil to highlight your brow  bone. Lightly apply directly under your brow and blend. I prefer to apply the eye pencil under the outer portion of my brow only but you can do it either way. And while we're on the topic of brows......you can also use the white pencil as a guide when plucking. Simply trace the shape of the brow you are trying to achieve and then pluck away the white!

I love the white eye pencil because it is so versatile. So far, we've talked about enhancing the eyes but let's talk about enhancing something that every woman wishes were bigger.......your lips! By applying a thin, faint line above the cupid's bow and below your lower lip, you will create the illusion of fuller, more voluptuous lips. Make sure you blend the line o you get the desired effect that you are looking for.

One more thing to tell you about and then we can wrap this little ditty up. If you have a blemish and a less than stellar concealer you can use the eye pencil to cover the blemish and give your foundation a little help to give you that flawless finish that we all strive to achieve.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the tip of the week today and if I missed anything, please, add it in the comments below. I'm going to be posting a lot today so keep your eyes open and ready for some more reviews!

Tip of the week #2

Hello friends!
I hope everyone is having a fabulous week and looking as amazing as ever! This weeks tip is probably one of the most useful tips and one that I use on a daily basis. So, what is it?
BABY WIPES!
Yes, baby wipes. No, you don't have to be wiping tushies to use them. I suggest that every woman keep baby wipes in their purse. There are so many helpful uses for them that will really surprise you. How many of you have changed your clothes a million times trying to find an outfit that you feel acceptable in only to get deodorant all over it rendering it useless? UGH! Well, now you don't have to settle for the 2nd best outfit anymore because you can get it out with, drum roll please, BABY WIPES!
What else can you use baby wipes for?
*Removing hair dye stains from your skin
*Clean the leaves of your house plants
*make your own wet swiffer
*great for removing ink from most surfaces
*can't take a shower? give yourself a sponge bath with wipes
*removes deodorant and makeup off of clothes
*wipe your pups paws after a rainy walk
*crazy flyaway hair? tame them with a wipe
*dirty feet? wipe them clean
*for all the pregnant ladies, pour a little witch hazel on and you have medicated hemorrhoid wipes
*Messy snack in the car? clean you and your car with wipes
*gently removes makeup
*best camping accessory
*cleans the chalkboard
*wipe down any surface for a quick clean
I prefer to get the travel size and just throw it in my purse.

So how's that for a tip? If you say you don't have a use for baby wipes then you must live in a bubble :) Did you find this post helpful? Do you have a use for baby wipes that I didn't mention? If so, please, leave a comment below.

Please follow and share with your friends! Once we get 100 followers there will be a giveaway worth OVER $100!!! There will also be 2nd and 3rd place prizes as well.

Makeup Primer Comparison

Hello friends!
I have just recently started using makeup primer before I apply my foundation and have gone through quite a few trying to find the right formula. I've used some that are really greasy and instead of keeping my makeup fresh and in place it looks like a smeared mess! Not a good look! I have also used some that are so thick it creates a film on your face and makes it feel like you're wearing gallons of makeup. Being from Florida, I need a primer that really does what it is intended to do.
The two primers I'm comparing today are Maybeline's Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Makeup Primer and Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer

I was so excited to try out the new Baby Skin primer from Maybeline and rushed out to the store to get it as soon as I found out that it was available. I had heard the most amazing things about it from magazines and online so I was really expecting to be wowed.

Maybeline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Makeup Primer

When I opened it and felt it on my fingers it felt silky and smooth but too greasy for me. It goes on nice and smooth and I allowed a few minutes for dry time before applying my foundation. I was highly disappointed when I looked in the mirror at 2 pm and saw what looked like a Van Gough painting on my face! Not so sexy! It appeared to me that the Baby Skin primer caused my foundation to smear and run. Maybe this product would be better in the winter months when the Florida heat isn't so sweltering but my opinion of Maybeline's Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Makeup Primer is not a good one. I have found that a lot of the Maybeline face products are greasy. I tried their BB cream and I had the same issue, too greasy.

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer

Now on to Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer!

When I opened the package I noticed the primer was thicker than some of the other primers I've tried. It went on smooth, similar to a face cream. I don't know if I really needed to do it with this one but I allowed 5 minutes for dry time. The Stay Matte primer absorbs really well and doesn't feel greasy on my face like the Maybeline one did, which is a plus. This time, when I looked in the mirror around 2 pm, I was very happy and satisfied to see that my makeup looked just as flawless as it did when I put it on first thing this morning. I was outside running around and STILL my makeup stayed in place and looked as fresh as ever! I would definitely recommend this primer!! The cost of Rimmel's Stay Matte Primer is only $6.99 which is a great deal and makes this product even more appealing! I cannot recommend this product enough and am absolutely in love with it! I really like all of the products in Rimmel's Stay Matte line.

If you have used either of the products that I have compared today I would love to hear about it. Please feel free to leave a comment below and tell me about your experience.

Tip of the Week #1

Hello friends!
I hope everyone is having a terrific start to their week and looking as fabulous as ever!!!
When I was thinking up all my ideas for this blog, one of the ideas I had was to provide you all, my friends, with a tip of the week. I always love learning all these great little tips that take zero effort and give you maximum results. Now that my blog is up and running I will be providing you all with a new tip every week.
With summer here and the temperature hot enough to fry an egg on your forehead, getting tips to help your makeup stay in place or prevent it from running are crucial! It's also wedding season and making sure your makeup is picture ready at all times is also very important!
You might think I'm crazy when I tell you this but take it from me, it works! After you put on your makeup dab your finger on your antiperspirant and dab it on your upper lip to prevent sweat beads from forming! This will prevent you from having your upper lip glistening in the light of the sun.....or flash ;) Make sure you don't rub it on or you will rub your makeup around, JUST DAB.
I hope this tip is helpful for you this summer and keeps you looking as stunning and flawless as ever in your pictures!

Thank you so much for reading what I have to share!

Turbie Twist. Is It a Love or Hate Relationship?

Hello Friends! One of the things I wanted to accomplish with this blog is to prevent my friends from wasting money on products that are not worthy of your all mighty dollar. So, because I love you all so much I will take one for the team and test out all of the products myself! Throughout my posts I will be reviewing products and also comparing products to make sure you are getting the best product you can get for the money that you are spending. There's nothing I hate more than being so excited to get the next new product only to get it home and be terribly disappointed. If you have products that you are curious about but do not see on my blog, please, drop me a line and I will get on it ASAP! My goal is to make you all, my friends, happy and beautiful without being broke!

As many of you that know me know, my hair is my thing! I will go to any lengths to make sure that my hair is taken care of and is not a hot mess. My hair goes down to almost my waist and is thick enough to make a wig for 4 or 5 drag queens. Washing, drying and managing my hair is a task in and of itself. I look like a fool after I get out of the shower with a towel wrapped up on my head so heavy that I'm stumbling and walking into walls. Isn't there anything else I can use to dry my hair that wont cause me to break something? DING DING DING. I remembered going through the "As seen on TV" isle at wally world and saw a Turbie Twist for a whole TWO DOLLARS! Really? Two dollars? I think, no matter what the outcome is I can afford two dollars. I was very skeptical because my hair is so long and thick that I figured there was no way that this little piece of fabric could contain my monstrosity!

Well let me just say this.......WOW! Not only did the Turbie Twist hold all my hair but it was light, not an overwhelming amount of fabric and it dried my hair much more efficiently than your standard bath towel. It is such a convenient little thing! You put it on your head, twist it up and there is even a little loop on top to secure the tip of the fabric with.

I could not be more pleased with this product and highly recommend it to any woman that uses a towel a top her head to dry her hair with. Hands down this is the best two dollars that I have ever spent! If you have any questions or if you have used the Turbie Twist yourself, please, leave a comment below!

Motives by Loren Ridinger for La La Review

Motives by Loren Ridinger for La La
Red Carpet Palette
Pressed Eye Shadow
WOW!
I tried this make up for the first time this week and was EXTREMELY impressed! All of the colors in this palette are gorgeous. I get so frustrated when I go to high end stores looking for an eye shadow palette and only being visually satisfied by half of the colors in a palette, therefore, being forced to buy two just to get all the colors that I like. When I first received this product the first thing that I noticed was the packaging, of course. There are four round eye shadows in a very nice, black, modern case with a window to view the colors. I love that the case isn't too big and bulky so it fits nicely in your make up case. The colors in the Red Carpet Palette are absolutely gorgeous and PERFECT for spring and summer! The colors are very pigmented and look the same on your skin as they do in the package.

The Motives by Loren Ridinger for La La eyeshadow goes on silky and smooth. Each of the colors has a slight shimmer to it but not too much. If you're looking for the perfect eye shadow palette for spring and summer, this is it! I'm very picky when it comes to eye shadow and I really enjoyed trying this one out. Not only is Motives' make up amazing but so is their customer service! I will definitely be ordering more of these eye shadow palettes soon! To order, go to
www.motivescosmetics.com/lisapeart
If you have any questions you can email Lisa who is an independent beauty consultant for Motives by Loren Ridinger at capitola23@msn.com
I know you all will love it as much as I do and I would love to hear about it in the comments below.
